Today we announced we will acquire Alliance Automation to bolster our IoT capabilities and accelerate our industry vertical growth ambitions.

If you haven’t heard of Alliance Automation, they are one of Australia’s largest independent providers of Industry 4.0 industrial automation solutions and control systems. Founded in 2010, Alliance is headquartered in Brisbane with multiple offices around Australia and more than 250 engineers and consultants.

The team provides services in technical advisory and electrical and control system design, project management, site installation, business intelligence, operational technology cyber security and 24x7 support.

This means we will be able to expand the potential for digital transformation services, industrial automation capabilities, digital twin, smart spaces and OT cyber security.

Digital transformation and the automation of enterprise operations is also known as “Industry 4.0”. It will be driven by the convergence of operational technology (OT) with traditional information technology (IT). Customers are telling us they need these capabilities and Alliance Automation’s IT/OT design, and implementation expertise gives us additional capability to help our customers successfully transform.

Digital Twins will also give our customers a high-fidelity, unified view of their operations, and bring a step change in process and productivity benefits. Alliance Automation’s ability to integrate operational data will be vital part of our digital twin strategy.

With the proliferation of IoT sensors and data, comes growing threats from cyber-attacks specifically targeting enterprise OT and control systems. The OT security market is growing, driven by both customer demand and government requirements. To protect enterprise IT and OT networks, Alliance Automation brings expertise in implementing secure interfaces and practices between enterprise and OT networks in accordance with Australian, US and international standards.

Finally, Alliance Automation will bolster Telstra Purple’s presence across industries such as mining & energy, oil & gas, water, utilities, and defence. Alliance Automation’s industrialised capabilities and solutions can also be leveraged to drive value from adjacent industries including supply chain, agriculture and manufacturing.

We are a leading IoT provider and trusted advisor in Australia and welcoming Alliance Automation’s team into Telstra Purple will help solidify this further.
